MASTER PROJECT
'The Nainkes'
Master graduation campaign about the communication around wild littering (a quite current and important issue) in an original and not pedantic way.
The objective was to sensitize people so they stop throwing their litter in the streets or that they clean it up.
Through this campaign I wanted people to start looking at garbage in a different way.
I chose not to work with traditional media and to solve the litter problem at the crime scene.
As a result I came to the idea of creating ‘The Nainkes’. Gnomes of the city that are fed up with cleaning people’s litter, and that finally came out of their shell to protest. In this way garbage gets a face and a voice.
Maybe this will help penetrate people’s minds, and will people finally realize that something must be done with all that litter.
I created characters out of litter, gave them a face and a voice. And tried to have them interact with the people of Brussels. I created a Wordpress page functioning as an informational platform, where people could look up more information about the project.
I also held a workshop with children to make their own little gnomes and teach them how to handle litter.
